On Saturday, Feb. 26, the Mercer County Golden Eagles Junior High wrestlers competed in IESA Wrestling Regionals at Morrison. Of the eight schools competing in this tough regional, Mercer County placed second with 182 points behind Sterling Challand with 212.5 points. Mercer County is sending 14 wrestlers who qualified to the IESA Sectionals at Deer Creek-Mackinaw on Saturday, March 5.

Qualifying for MC were Trenton Murphy- fourth, Drake Stirn- third, Trae Blaser- first, Mikey Neeld- third, Jarret Russell- third, Ashton Klingaman- first, Curtis Van Winkle- first, Tristen Finch- first, Jake Kisner- third , Matthew Weeks- first, Mason Weeks- first, Quinton Ball- third, Chase Nelson- second and Carl Dennison- fourth.  Good luck wrestlers!

On Saturday, March 5, 2011, the Golden Eagles JH wrestlers competed in IESA Wrestling Sectionals at Deer Creek Mackinaw. Fourteen boys from MC qualified and nine will be wrestling at the IESA State finals on March 11 - 12 in Dekalb.

Qualifying by placing third or better in their weight class are: Trae Blaser- first, Drake Stirn- second, Ashton Klingaman- second, Curtis VanWinkle- first, Tristen Finch- first, Jake Kisner- third, Matthew Weeks-  first, Mason Weeks- first and Chase Nelson- third. Wrestlers who qualified for Sectionals but did not advance were Mikey Neeld, Trenton Murphy, Jarret Russell, Quinton Ball and Carl Dennison.

Mercer County won Sectionals with a team score of 176 points and brought home the team trophy. Sterling Challand placed second with 171. It came down to the 275 lb. match and the Sterling wrestler did not win.

Dorothy Levine is having a birthday on March 15, Ida Steepleton is having a birthday on March 17 and the annual Seaton Fire Department Pancake Day is March 19.

Also don't forget the public auction at the Seaton Park on that day at 9 a.m. Auctioneer Ron Dillavou will auction off the Tornado and Slide from the Seaton Park.
