Shlenker, who is a member of the Audubon Society, has an undergraduate science background from Indiana University and a master's degree in engineering from the University of Iowa. He will share photographs he has taken of various birds native to this area, and he will tell the audience about them, focusing on the birds' characteristics and habits.
Shlenker had been interested in photography since he started taking pictures with a Kodak Brownie Reflex camera at the age of 11. He was the photographer for the Quad City Botanical Center for several years and also has done photographic work for the Putnam Museum and Niabi Zoo.
