News from Illinois City
Russ and Jackie Hofer were surprised at Illinois City Hall for a 40th anniversary party. Approximately 200 family and friends attended a fish fry luncheon for the occasion. Rikki and Wade, their children, hosted the event. The Hofers were completely surprised. A renewal of their vows was held and organized by their children. An enjoyable party and great catfish filets fixed by James Hetzler, Rikki's husband and Wade Hofer.
Randy and Laura McGinnis enjoyed Palm Sunday dinner at Ric and Liz MacDonald's in Hamlet. Those attending were Ali McGinnis of Silvis, Amy and Bill Duncan of Alexis and boys Trent and Cael, Sarah and Dave Thomas of Buffalo Prairie, Wyatt Thomas of Chicago area along with Abigail Cabrera and daughter Aubrey also of Chicago, Lee Gray of Hamlet, Mary MacDonald of Hamlet, Bob and Bib Bergland of Aledo, Dolly Parkinson of Aledo. Ian and Maggie MacDonald also were hosting the event. An Easter egg hunt was enjoyed by the children.
Mary and Sheldon Farwell's granddaughter Sarah Farwell won a writing contest in the Iowa schools. A poem won first place at the state level. They drove to Ames for Sarah's award presentation of her writing accomplishments.
The Farwells also traveled to Sheffield to the bed and breakfast Chestnut Street Inn for an evening meal with friends. A delicious meal was enjoyed. A couple from southern California run the bed and breakfast and entertain on Friday and Saturday night by reservation. Quite a treat for the palate and great conversation.
Peggy Heaton went to Crown Point, Ind. to granddaughter Sarah's wedding shower. Sarah will be married May 14. Orlando Heaton won a new red bicycle from the Milan bike safety school. He is proud of his new bike.
Lila Keller, along with daughter Janis, and her daughter Amanda, fixed some special foods and visited with Ralph at Carrington Place in Muscatine where he is a resident. Ralph enjoys mail from his friends, too!
Tate and MaryAnn Vroman traveled to Seneca to visit with their son Eric and family on Saturday.
Pine Bluff Bible study is at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays. Illinois City Bible study is at 7 p.m. at Bill and Lori Jarrett's.

Illinois City firemen will host a May 1 breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the Illinois City Hall. The breakfast is by donation. Hope to see a large crowd for this annual fund-raising event.
Lisa Keller and family are enjoying a visit with her mother Joyce Feldman who lives at Sunnybrook in Muscatine. She will also be visiting with her sister Laurie Carpenter and family of Illinois City.
The progress on the Harlo and Mary Ricketts' farm home by their grandson Aaron and Ami Ricketts is shaping up! A new look for the older farm dwelling. We all have enjoyed the building project as we drive by.
