Dennis and Cathy DeKeyrel from Harmony, Minn., were down to visit with his mother Lucille DeKeyrel for her birthday. They enjoyed a brunch on Sunday morning for her big day at an area restaurant.

Brian and Tammy McGreer entertained a large crowd at their home for Samantha's high school graduation party. A delicious meal was served with an enjoyable afternoon of visiting. Samantha will attend Augustana in the fall.

Randy and Laura McGinnis entertained the Muscatine County Master Gardeners on Tuesday night. Thirty five gardeners toured the perennial, annual and vegetable gardens. Laura is a member of the group. After the meeting, the group enjoyed a trip to Hilltop Greenhouse. The McGinnises also enjoyed entertaining John and Betty Frost of Aledo and Neil and Pam Truman of Seaton for an evening meal this week.

Mike and Nichole Terrill of Illinois City hosted the Terrill family reunion on Sunday. A large crowd turned out to enjoy a potluck dinner and afternoon of visiting.

Mitchell DeKeyrel, son of Matt DeKeyrel of rural Illinois City, won the Contig trophy, a mental math game, at the District Contest at Andalusia Elementary School. He is the grandson of Darvell and Peggy DeKeyrel. Mitchell was a sixth grader at Illinois City Elementary.

In the early morning hours – at the Illinois City fire station the Illinois City United Methodist are handing out coffee/water for traveling folks on Rte. 92. Stop by to have a cup – once a week (usually Wednesdays, weather depending) from 6 to 8:30 a.m.

Evelyn McGinnis attended the Reynolds Alumni Party at the Reynolds Legion last Saturday night. She was in the class celebrating their 70th reunion. Approximately 10 class members and spouses were in attendance. Evelyn said it was a large group that attended the Alumni Banquet overall.

Mary Ann and Tate Vroman spent Father's Day in Seneca with their son Eric and family. Greg Vroman their other son also went with his family for the day. It was a great day and all the granchildren enjoyed getting together.

Marty and Sheldon Farwell with a van load of friends toured the Chicago Botanical Center in Glenco. It was well worth the trip with beautiful displays of plants. Also great photo shots!

Glenda and George Foy entertained 50 guests for the Swedish MidSummer Celebration Wednesday night. The Swedish singers that are touring the U.S. were to be there for folk singing, but power outage in Chicago prevented their plane from flying. So the party went on – Randy and Laura McGinnis enjoyed the evening. The singers will present a program in the Quad Cities hopefully on Friday -- Mother Nature can change plans!

A mission trip to Costa Rica will be leaving July 5 – July 14. Those going from Illinois City Methodist are Josh Loveland, Joe Leopard, Kayleen Murphy, Lori and Bill Jarrett, Nicole Mathis, Nicole Bishop, Toni and Howard Ross.

The Methodist Youth group has been very busy -- serving a meal at Homeless Shelter and working at Pizza Ranch for a fund-raiser in Muscatine. They have sold Methodist Symbol stepping stones with the cross and flame on them. Good luck on your mission trip.
