ZuZu is crowned "Top Dog"

Zuzu, a Corgi owned by Crystal Johnson and Gary Mendoza of Alexis, was awarded the "Top Dog" title at The Vintage Button's Top Dog Contest on Saturday, Aug. 6.
The Vintage Button staff invited anyone to bring in a photo of their dog between July 7 - 22. The photos were then placed on jars, and voting was begun on July 23. People dropped coins into the jar of their favorite dog to vote.
"Dog Days of Summer", a sales event held by The Vintage Button on Saturday, concluded the contest. The store offered samples of a new Oogave soda, Dry Rhubarb, samples of gourmet dog treats for the pups, and Cooper the Dog entertained children. Reason's College Avenue Deli also served hot dog meals.
The votes were tallied at 2:00 p.m., and ZuZu, who raised $366.16, was determined to be the winner. Second place was an Aledo resident who raised $133.85, Otis the pit bull owned by Sheree Silverwood, and Remy, a terrier owned by Chris and Bill Sutton of Aledo came in third, raising $48.38. The contest raised over $700, to be split between the Mercer Pound and the Brown Dog Foundation.
