Leatha Mae Stoner, 96, of Aledo, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo. There is no visitation. Private burial will be following the funeral in the Monmouth cemetery. Memorials may be given to Mercer County Senior Center.

 Leatha was born January 31, 1915 in Monmouth, the daughter of Major and Blanch McNeal Downer. She married Preston Smith in Monmouth. She later married Herschel Stoner in Aledo.

She was a member of the Aledo Moose Lodge, serving as senior regent and the Mercer County Senior Center.  She was awarded the Western Illinois Area Agency of Aging 2005 Gallery of Ageless Achievers.  Leatha enjoyed making lap blankets and crafts, and playing triominos, bingo and cards.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie (Harry K.) Moran, Aledo; two step-sons, Raymond, Galesburg and Robert (Bertha) of Tennessee; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Ed; sister, Cleo Kellogg; brother, Blair Downer; brother-in-law, Kelly Kellogg.
