Robert L. Johnson

Robert L. Johnson, 84, of Woodhull died Sunday August 21, 2011 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Woodhull. Burial is in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Viola where graveside military services will be conducted. He was born August 21, 1927 near Woodhull to Chester and Bertie Taylor Johnson. He graduated from Woodhull High School and married Mary M. Moseley December 6, 1952 in Viola. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran and he was a heavy equipment operator owning and operating Johnson Construction Company in Woodhull.
His memberships include Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion, Miles S. Sturgeon American Legion Post #546, AlWood Business Assoc. and the Moline Vikings Club. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Woodhull Telephone Company and a former member of the Clover Twsp. Fire Department. He enjoyed playing golf and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, one granddaughter, Erika Johnson of Chicago, a son-in-law Steve (Lynn) Molburg and their family Janson (Stephanie) Bender and Jacob Molburg all of Preemption, one brother James (Marie) Johnson of Cambridge, nieces and nephews including Dan (Barb) Tusing of Woodhull whom they raised and special family members Cindy and Aidan Hunter of Preemption.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter LuAnne Molburg, one sister and one brother.
