Thomas F. Downey

Thomas F. Downey, 70, of Aledo died Saturday August 20, 2011 at the Mercer County Hospital in Aledo. Graveside services are 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Aledo Cemetery. He was born March 13, 1941 in Aledo to Everett and Betty Knox Downey. He attended the Aledo schools and married Frances Martin July 15, 1984 in Seaton. She died March 4, 1996.
Tom was a farm hand for Paul Rowland and Clifford Fowler for most of his life. For many years he hauled scrap metal for area residents. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, country music, karaoke and playing bingo.
He is survived by three step-daughters, Cathy (Randy Henderson) Johnson of Joy, Debbie Jones of Cave City, Ark., Elizabeth (Sam) Young of Citronelle, Ala., one step-son, Roy (Jeri) Martin of Melcher, Iowa, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, three sisters, Marge Crow and Helen Dale of Aledo; Ann (Jim) Hays of Viola; two brothers, David (Kathy) Downey of New Boston, Robert (Sherry) Downey of Aledo, several nieces and nephews, special friends Margaret Bobik, Dick and Dixie Vestal, and Ezra Howard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother Terry,
