Ruth V. Britton, 90, of Muscatine, Iowa passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Carrington Place of Muscatine.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine.  Pastor Jim Turner will officiate.  Following services at the funeral home, burial will be in the Peniel Cemetery in Joy.  Honorary casket bearers will be Kenney Vance, Gary Vance, Roy Foster, Mike Capps, Robert Britton and Robert Adams.  Visitation for Ruth will be Wednesday, September 14, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Musserville United Methodist Church or the Discovery Center in memory of Ruth.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.  

Ruth Vance was born on October 31, 1920, in Rock Island County, the daughter of Frank "Roy" and Ethel (Braucht) Vance.  On April 24, 1942, Ruth was united in marriage to Lee "Mac" Britton in Muscatine.  She was a homemaker.  Ruth was also a member of the Musserville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, holding many offices, and past member of Women of the Moose.  She enjoyed attending church and participating in all church activities, gardening, sewing, cooking and visiting with friends.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her children, Nancy Schroud and her husband, Michael of Harlingen, Texas and Larry Britton and his wife, Joan of Muscatine, Iowa; six grandchildren, Darren Schroud and his wife, Michelle, Debra Burney and her husband, Paul, Rebekka Carter and her husband, Jake, Katie Mullis and her husband, Allen, Brad Britton and his wife, Jenny and Byron Britton; 13 great grandchildren, Marinna, Gabby, Ren, Rory, Jordan, Jaclyn, Rodney, Tam, Jazym, Aliza, Gavyn, Drake and Hunter; one brother, Robert Vance and wife, Willie Mae of Sun City West, Arizona; and one sister, Mildred Washburn of Strawberry Point, Iowa.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on October 31, 1982, one great granddaughter, Nicole and two brothers, James and Mort.
