Mayor Breeden announces Aledo Economic Coordinator appointment

Aledo Mayor Bill Breeden announced the appointment of Cynthia Dove as the new Coordinator of Economic Development, effective Oct. 12, 2011.

Ms. Dove has an extensive background in marketing, sales and sales management, market analysis and development, as well as human resources and corporate trainer. In her previous sales management position, she was involved with negotiations and implementation of municipal governmental contracts, and served as a municipality liaison. Her experience spans businesses in California, Texas and Illinois.

"In this position, Ms. Dove will focus on Aledo's immediate needs, retaining and expanding existing businesses, recruiting additional retail activity", said Mayor Breeden. "She will serve as a liaison between the City and other community organizations to improve the business environment and coordinate an Economic Development Strategy."

Mayor Breeden personally recruited Ms. Dove for the position after receiving little response to recruitment efforts for the position. "During the past few months I have had several discussions with Cynthia regarding the business environment in Aledo, and became aware of her strong business background. She impressed me with her knowledge and business expertise, and I felt she would be an ideal person to serve as the Economic Development Coordinator."

The Economic Development Coordinator will be a part-time position, and reports directly to Mayor Breeden.

Over 30 years experience in business development, sales and sales management, marketing, market analysis and development, and corporate training in the private sector.

Positions of responsibility include Senior Sales Trainer (designed and implemented international sales training program), Sales Development Specialist (managed all market development activities within the Los Angeles area), District Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and National Sales Manager.

In her most recent sales management position, she served as municipality liaison with responsibility for negotiations and implementation of municipal government contracts.

In addition to her previous work with municipal governments, she has worked with a variety of different business segments; ranging from small independent retail, regional and national retail chains, industrial and manufacturing operations, construction, and rental housing organizations.

Educational accomplishments include Master of Science in Human Resources Managment - Chapman University, San Diego, Calif., and a Bachelors of Science in Social Science - Chapman University, San Diego, Calif.
