Veda M. Mack
Veda M. Mack, 80 of Galesburg, died at 12:22 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11,
2011 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Funeral was Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 in Berwick Baptist Church. Pastor Thomas Smith and Pastor Charles Bennett officiated. Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 13 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West
Galesburg Chapel. Burial was in Berwick Cemetery. Memorials may be
made to Berwick Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Online

Veda was born Aug. 14, 1931 in Pocahontas, Ark., the daughter of
Preston and Dovie Duke Bennett. She married Buell Mack on Feb. 11,
1950 in Pocahontas, Ark. He survives.
Veda was raised in Pocahontas, Ark. until the age of 19 at which time
she moved to Abingdon. After a few years in Abingdon, she and
Buell moved to Berwick, and lived there for 50 years. In 2005 they
moved to Galesburg.
She is also survived by a son, Rick (and Linda) Mack of Galva.; two
daughters, Sandy (and George) Campbell of Roseville and Marsha
(and Davis) Biddle of Aledo; two brothers, Joe (and JoAnn) Bennett
of Abingdon and Charles (and Ann) Bennett of Heber Springs, Ark.;
a sister, Geraldine (and Walter) Bibbs of Ozark, Mo.; six grandchildren;
nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She is
preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters and one
grandson.
She worked at the Blue Bell Plant in Abingdon for a number of years
before purchasing B & V Grocery in Berwick. She then started Mack's
Upholstery and worked doing this for 20 years. She later began cooking
for the Abingdon Care Center and for the Monmouth Nursing Home. Her
last employment was as a baker for Monmouth College for nine years.
Veda was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church. She loved to collect
all kinds of chicken figurines.
