A. Harold Carlson, 94, a resident of Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo, formerly of Taylor Ridge, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at the home. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan.  Private entombment is in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island.  Visitation is 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church.

Harold Carlson was born Aug. 7, 1917 in Taylor Ridge, a son of Albert and Louise Bloomberg Carlson.  He married Evelyn M. Blaser on July 12, 1942 in Taylor Ridge.  She died March 9, 2008.

He had worked as an electrician for Carlson Heating and Air Conditioning for 46 years.

Harold was a member of Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed helping others, wood working and volunteering at the church.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia A. and Kent Slusher, Danville and Cyndy L. and Allyn Montgomery, Effingham; grandchildren, Douglas Paul Slusher, Rantoul and Michelle L. Hobaugh and her husband, Eric, Floyds Knobs, Ind.; great grandchildren, Matthew and Krysta Slusher and Brian and Katherine Hobaugh; sister-in-law, Arlene Nussbaum, West Liberty, Iowa; and brother-in-law and wife, Harold and Ann Blaser, Reynolds.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a sister, Evelyn Schultz; and his brother, C.S. “Steve” Carlson.
