Charles T. "Chuck" Ditto, 76, of Oquawka died at 4:13 pm Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. As per Chuck's request cremation has been accorded. A celebration of Chuck's life will be from noon until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at the Eagle's Club in Oqwauka. The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements. Born April 28, 1935, in Burlington, Iowa he was the son of Charles F. and Esther Wallace Ditto. On Aug. 9, 1957, he married Fairy Mikel in New Boston.

Chuck worked at Farmall in Rock Island before he started working as a carpenter, farmer, truck driver, and commercial fisherman.

He graduated from Keithsburg High School in 1953.

In the early years Chuck built his own house boat, which they lived on in the summers. He respected and lived off the land as a true outdoorsman, with his love for hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. He was an amateur gunsmith and maker of the "Ditto" Duck Call. He loved to ride motorcycles and will continue to ride with his son, Darrin.

Survivors include his wife, Fairy; one son, Darrin Ditto of Oquawka; one sister, Judy Brown of Keithsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
