Geneseo veterinarian awarded prestigious honor

Dr. Matt Nelson, veterinarian/owner of Maple Ridge Veterinary Clinic in Geneseo, received the Dr. Erwin Small First Decade Award at the 129th Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association annual meeting in Peoria.  The award is given annually to one veterinarian who has graduated from veterinary college within the last 10 years. It recognizes someone who represents high standards of professionalism and demonstrates leadership in programs approved by the ISVMA.

Nelson is a 2002 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  He is involved in his state and regional veterinary associations, where he serves on the Board of Directors for the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association and the Mississippi Valley Veterinary Medical Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Animal Emergency Center of the Quad Cities, the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce, and the Geneseo Kiwanis Club.

Dr. Nelson is the grandson of Jerry and Joan Fausett of Aledo.
