Nominations sought for Woman of the Year

Mercer County Women for Women is seeking nominations for their annual Woman of the Year award to a deserving woman in Mercer County. When submitting your nominee, you may consider her involvement in local community, church or school activities; volunteerism; personal attributes or character traits; service and caring to others shown thru family and/or faith; and encouragement to others in developing their potential. Names of nominees, plus a letter of recommendation in 200 words or less, should be submitted to Margaret Jackson at 705 SW 7th Ave., Aledo, IL 61231 (or email margaretj46@hotmail.com), postmarked no later than Monday, April 23, 2012.

The award will be presented at the club's May 15 dinner meeting at Doug's Town & Country Restaurant in Aledo. The person making the nomination must sign the letter and provide an address and phone number.

Mercer County Women for Women is a non-profit organization open to women of all ages in Mercer County. The club provides scholarships to further education for women, books for local libraries and food baskets annually at Christmas. Women may be homemakers or employed in any field.
