Alpha shooting victim dies

Robin Atchison, 29, has been arrested and accused of shooting her husband, Trevor, in Alpha on May 1.

The victim of a shooting in Alpha early Tuesday morning died Thursday in a Peoria hospital.

Henry County Sheriff Jim Padilla said Trevor B. Atchison, 21, of Alpha, died Thursday after being taken off life support.

Padilla said an autopsy would be conducted later yesterday.

Atchison's wife, Robin Atchison, 29, is in the Henry County Jail under $500,000 bond on charges that she shot Trevor Atchison in the head with a .22 caliber rifle.

Mrs. Atchison is charged with Class 3 felony reckless discharge of a firearm and Class 4 felony possession of a weapon by a felon.

In connection with the case, Clint David Cole, 23, of Woodhull, was arrested Wednesday on a Class 3 felony charge of sale of a firearm to a felon. Cole was jailed on $50,000.

Padilla said sheriff's investigators would meet with Henry County State's Attorney Terry Patton to determine if the charges against the two will be upgraded as the result of Trevor Atchison's death.
