Army Reserve General to speak at Milan Legion’s Memorial Day Ceremony

Brig. Gen. Steven J. Feldmann, U.S. Army Reserve, will be the keynote speaker at a Memorial Day celebration, 11 a.m., Monday, May 31st, at American Legion Post No. 569, 515 W 1st Ave., Milan. Gen. Feldmann is with the Army Sustainment Command at the Rock Island Arsenal.

In civilian life, he is a lieutenant with the Cedar Rapids Police Department. He holds BA degrees in criminal justice administration and sociology from Mt. Mercy College, and a Master of Science Degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College. He is expected to speak about his experiences while serving in South Korea and Afghanistan as he assists the Milan American Legion members in honoring veterans.

During the ceremony, a wreath commemorating those killed or missing in action will be laid at the base of a monument in front of the Legion Post. A flag bearing the names of the Patriots killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States will be on display, and small commemorative flags will be given to attendees.

The public is encouraged to attend, and to join the Milan Legion veterans for sandwiches, cake, and coffee following the ceremony.
