McEwen helps CSC to NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament
The CSC Chargers made their first trip in the college’s history to the NJCAA Division II Men’s National Golf Tournament in Sunny Phoenix, AZ. Palm Valley Golf Club hosted the event, home of the Phoenix College Bears.
With heat in the high 90’s it was a big change. The Chargers went from woods to cacti, not to mention this was the biggest stage this young team has ever played on. Lone sophomore Andrew Ledford led the way for the Chargers by shooting a four-day total of 306 (+14) and keeping all four of his rounds in the seventies despite taking a quadruple bogey on his fourth hole and following it up with a triple on the fifth only to play his other 16 hole one under par. Ledford finished the tournament in a tie at 55th place out of the 132 players. Other scores for the Chargers were Luke Kane (319) Jordan Lieber (321) Chris Neal (323) and Kyle McEwen (Aledo High School graduate) with a (341). The Chargers finished the event in 17th place when it was all said and done not too bad considering CSC was the only team that made it to the National Tournament with four freshman.
