Make plans to spend the weekend hanging around the John Deere Commons and i wireless Center with THE Quad Cities Marathon and its festivities taking place Saturday and Sunday.

Runners can cover up to 26.2 miles throughout the Quad Cities if they participate in THE Quad Cities Marathon. Presented by THE National Bank, THE Quad Cities Marathon continues to be known for its 5 Events, 4 Cities, 3 Bridges, 2 States, and 1 Island - all along the beautiful views of the Mississippi River.

THE Quad Cities Marathon will continue to feature a tour of the Quad Cities via downtown Moline, Bettendorf, Davenport, downtown Rock Island, touring Arsenal Island, off the Island and into Moline all as part of the 26.2-mile course. The marathon course runs past and through the Quad Cities landmarks of the I-74 Bridge, LeClaire Park Bandshell, Modern Woodmen Stadium, Centennial Bridge with many miles right along the river.   

Perks this year include a special edition micro-fiber Tee, a poster reprint of the 2010 Darrell Bush original, and a first class finisher’s medallion for ALL participants in all the Sunday events!

ORA Health & Fitness Expo – Saturday, September 25, 2010  10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.  at the i wireless Center, 1201 River Drive, Moline. The Expo will feature exhibits of the newest in running gear, the latest in sports, fitness and nutrition. Admission is free. Packet Pickup will be held in conjunction with the Expo, and participants can still register at the Expo.

Happy Joe’s Kids MicroMarathon Fun Run – 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept 25, at Bass Street landing. For kids of all ages! The Happy Joe's Fun Runs offer three distances: 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile and 1 mile. These are noncompetitive events open to all ages and abilities. Designed exclusively for fun and fitness. Registration available until race time. T-shirts, ribbons and goodie bags to all finishers.

Noodles Pasta Party – Saturday, Sept. 25,  5 to 7 p.m., Stoney Creek Inn. The Noodles Pasta Party is an excellent opportunity to load up on energy and mingle with runners. Dane Rauschenberg, extreme runner, motivational speaker and running coach is this year’s pasta party speaker.

Saturday, September 25, 2010, 5 - 7 p.m. at Stoney Creek Inn, Moline. Tickets are $10.00 at the door.

Party in Motion – The community is invited to enjoy Sunday morning outside and support the runners and walkers participating in this year’s QC Marathon while enjoying the “Party in Motion.” More than 50 bands and entertainers will cheer on the runners and entertain spectators with their tunes throughout the 26.2 mile course from Bettendorf to Davenport, Rock Island to Moline.

The Hot Air Balloon Festival will take place at the same time with mor exthan 17 balloons along the course.

In addition to THE Quad Cities Marathon 26.2-mile feature race, THE QCM offers the KJWW Half Marathon, Palmer Chiropractic 5K, the Rock Valley Physical Therapy 5-Person Relay, the one-mile Walk for the Cause, and the Happy Joe's Kids Micro-Marathon.

Proceeds from THE Quad Cities Marathon benefit the UsToo Prostate Cancer Education and Support organization.  Additional information, including race registration, is on-line at Participants can register throughout the Expo on Saturday.
