Farm Forestry Field Day

A diverse mix of forestry, wildlife, and fisheries topics will be presented at the Kreiter Tree Farm Forestry Field Day on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Visit with forestry, wildlife, and fisheries experts and meet other landowners who are interested in managing their land better on Wednesday Sept. 22. Demonstrations, discussions, and a vendors fair will be ongoing throughout the day. Topics will include Tree Identification; Tree Planting / Maintenance; Wildlife Habitat Management; Emerging and Reoccurring Forest Health Issues; Growing Quality Walnut Trees; Pond Management; and Portable Sawmill Demonstrations.

The program will begin at 9 a.m. at the Kreiter Tree Farm, 12010 70th Ave (Y40), From Bluegrass, Iowa – 2 miles south on County Y40, (The Kreiter driveway is on the west side of the road, look for forestry field day signs on Y40). The cost of the program is $20 which includes lunch, refreshments, and handouts. Sponsors for the event include the Interstate RC&D, Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Muscatine and Scott County Conservation Boards, National Wild Turkey Federation, Quad City Conservation Alliance, Riverboat Development Authority, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Iowa DNR, and ISU Forestry Extension. The day will end at 4 PM and participants should dress for outdoor conditions.
