CSC Community Education Classes for January

Carl Sandburg College Community Education classes are offered as a service to area citizens at minimal cost.  Some classes are developed for specific interest groups or age brackets. You may register for most of these classes by phone at (217) 357-7241, or in person at the Branch Campus. This 14-week course will provide basic instruction in venous and capillary puncture for blood collection purposes. Lecture and labs will focus on safe practice in performing phlebotomy procedures, legal and ethical responsibilities, professionalism and interpersonal communication skills. Students will be required to secure volunteers (age 18 and over) for blood draws. Students must provide a current statement of good health from their physician and document negative TB testing performed within three months prior to the start of the course. Hepatitis B vaccination is strongly recommended. Students will be required to either document Hepatitis B vaccination or sign a waiver prior to the second week of classes. Class will be on Mondays, beginning Jan. 24 for fourteen weeks (excluding March 7) from 5-8:15 p.m.
