Letter to Editor
On Nov. 4, 2008, the voters of the Aledo and Westmer School districts made real the vision for a consolidated school district. The fork in the road to follow has now been closed. The newly elected school board will have many challenges ahead of them. In a year with record voter turnout, the strong support for the consolidation effort gives the board a clear view as to the public's wishes.
It is now time to move into the future together, as our children have in their activities, as we have for years as neighboring communities. It is time to move towards the common goal of a higher quality of education for our children.
The Committee of Ten would like to express its gratitude to all who participated in the process, whether it be serving on a committee, attending meetings, donating for the marketing effort, or most importantly, casting a YES vote in the election booth. We wish the school board the best of luck in their endeavors.
