Sherrard beats Rockridge, 22-6

The Sherrard Tigers football team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 22-6 victory over Rockridge, Sept. 12.

Neither team could manage a score in the first period but the two team’s exchanged touchdowns in the second quarter.

Logan Frye scored on a 49-yard touchdown run for the Tigers to put them ahead 6-0.

Rockridge answered as Kyle Rettig hit Cole Griffin on a 12-yard touchdown pass to tie the score.

The score remained tied 6-6 a the half

The Tigers took the lead for good in the third period as Austin Hamerlink caught 45-yard pass from Frye. Frye’s two-point conversion run gave Sherrard a 14-6 lead.

The Tigers sealed the victory late in the fourth quarter as Frye hit Spencer Brown with a 20-yard touchdown pass. Justin Miller completed the conversion run to give Sherrard the 22-6 victory.

The Rockets fell to 1-2 with the loss.

Jake Flater led the Rockets in rushing with 55 yards while Rockridge quarterback Kyle Rettig completed seven passes for 71 yards.

Frye led the Tigers on the ground with 74 yards and completed two of four pass attempts for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
