ROWVA girls upset Sherrard

The ROWVA girls' basketball team beat Sherrard 44-40 on Nov. 25.

Sherrard outscored ROWVA 13-11 in the first quarter, but ROWVA recovered in the second quarter to take a 25-21 lead at the half.

Sherrard cut the ROWVA lead to 34-32 by the end of the third quarter but the ROWVA held them off in the fourth quarter to earn the victory.

Sherrard committed 24 turnovers in the contest.

Scoring for Sherrard were: Ashlee Matthews, nine; Shelbie Pettie and Lauren Herkes, seven; Samantha Crumley, six; Kelly Hornick, five; Kelly Adams, Madison Kissner and Tarran Shaffer, two.

Anjay Clark led ROWVA in scoring with 10 points while Kelsey Kovacik and Kaylyn Nelson chipped in nine apiece.

Matthews led Sherrard in rebounds with eight and steals with three. Pettie led Sherrard in assists with five.

Taylor Rice had five assists and five steals for ROWVA.
