Green Dragons earn golf awards

Award winners for the Aledo-Westmer golf team are: David Ferguson newcomer award; Kyle McEwen, most valuable golfer and Austin Reid, most improved golfer.

The Aledo-Westmer golf program gave out golf awards recently.

Senior Kyle McEwen was named the most valuable golfer. McEwen was a state qualifier for three out of the past four years. He has also been the most valuable golfer for three out of the past four years. He was the medalist in all dual events this year. He won the Riverdale Invite with a score of 72 which was held at Male Bluff Golf Course in Geneseo.

Coach Tom Haines described McEwen as “a great leader for the team.”

Freshmen David Ferguson won the “newcomer award.” It goes to a first year player who shows the greatest improvement in his game, attitude, and enthusiasm for the game.

Junior Austin Reid was named the “most improved golfer.”
