Green Dragons fall to Fulton, 75-58
The Aledo Green Dragon girl's basketball team lost to Fulton, 75-58 on Jan. 31.
The Green Dragons started out on fire Saturday night jumping on Fulton. They used a 12-3 run to take a 20-12 lead in the first quarter of the contest forcing Fulton to call a timeout to regroup.
"We started out very well," said Aledo coach Adam Link. "I scouted them last week and knew what they were going to do."
After that it was all Fulton. Late in the first quarter and early in the second quarter Fulton went on a 14-0 run to take a 30-23 lead over the Green Dragons.
Link said his team has to box out better. "We can only coach so much. That's what is so frustrating as a coach."
Link noted, "I'm always happy with my guard play. Two five foot guards can't do it all. I've got to get it from everybody else. This is one of our tougher nights of the season."
Fulton trailed 23-20 at the end of the first quarter but were ahead 44-31 by halftime.
Fulton outscored Aledo 16-7 in the third quarter and led by 22 points heading into the fourth period.
Scoring for the Green Dragons were Nicole Frye, 16; Haylee Maynard, 13; Courtney Bennett, seven; Molly Conway and Emma Downey, six; Berthel and Miranda Biddle, four; Emily Heard, two.
