Sherrard girls place seventh in the state
The Sherrard girls' track team placed seventh in the IHSA Class 1A state track competition May 24 and 25 at Charleston. Sherrard scored 27 points at the meet.
Bloomington (Central Catholic) won first place with 41 points.
This is the fourth year in a row Sherrard has placed among the top ten teams at state.
The Tigers 4 x 100 meter relay team (Rachel Murray, Lacey Hainline, Madison Kissner and Sarah Boraas) placed second in the state with a time of 49.69. South Holland (Seton Academy) placed first with a time of 49.25.
Boraas placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.36. Megan Stringer of Central A & M won the event with a time of 14.73.
Boraas placed fifth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 46.18. Paige Knodle of Byron won the event with a time of 44.04.
Rockridge's Chelsey Widdop placed ninth in state at the event with a time of 47.51.
Sherrard's 4 x 400 meter relay team (Katie Kirwan, Madison Kissner, Shelbie Pettie and Lacey Hainline) placed sixth in the state with a time of 4:05.51.
Vandalia won the event with a time of 4:00.58.
Lacey Hainline placed seventh in the 400-meter dash with time of 58.87. Lindsey Holden of Greenville won the event with a time of 55.67.
Hainline also placed eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.78. Lindsey Holden of Greenville won the event with a time of 12.25.
