Rockridge girls win own invite
The Rockridge girls' track team won the Rocket Invite Friday edging out Olympic Conference rival Orion 57-59.
Other team scores were: Knoxville, 84; Annawan-Wethersfield, Mid-County, 115; Sherrard, 119 and Ridgewood, 155.
Along the way Nicole Wager of Annawan-Wethersfield broke the meet record with a time of 20:35.0. The former meet record, 20:58, was set by Niki Lecander of Sherrard in 2004.
Lost in the shuffle was the fact that Rockridge's Heidi Schickel broke the old meet record as well, with a time of 20:54, but had to settle for second place at the meet.
Schickel's teammate Codee Pedersen also finished in the top ten at the meet with her fifth place finish, 21:26.0.
Mercer County Golden Eagle Miranda Biddle placed seventh overall with a time of 21:45.0.
Sherrard's top runner was Arial Harland, 13th, 23:02.
Rockridge times were: Heidi Schickel, 20:54; Codee Pedersen, 21:26; Jacqueline Klossing, 23:41; Gabby Lee, 24:22; Peyton Pachucki, 24:57; Kylie Tolson, 25:34 and Olivia Hartwick, 26:03.
Sherrard times were: Arial Harland, 23:02; Kiersten Wallarab, 23:51; Kayla Viager, 26:00; Alexandra Jones, 26:10; Erin Morley, 26:29; McKenna Burns, 26:31 and Amanda Johnson, 27:15.
Mercer County Golden Eagle times: Miranda Biddle, 21:45; Jenna Ortberg, 23:20 and Christina McKnight, 26:58.
