Rockets thump Kewanee

The Rockridge Rockets girls basketball team beat Kewanee Thursday night 50-35.

Kewanee started out on fire in the first quarter outscoring the Rockets 11-5.

The Rockets bounced back in the second period outscoring Kewanee 18-5 and went into the lockerroom with a 23-22 lead.

The Rockets broke the game open in the third period outscoring Kewanee 21-7 to take a 44-29 lead into the final quarter.

There were five lead changes during the contest and the Rockets led by as many as 17 points at one point.

Scoring for Rockridge were: Taylor Anderson, 12; Michaela Stoneking, 11; Beth Meier, seven; Madi Lape, six; Callie Gosney, four; Devin Hasson and Cheyenne Bowman, three and Kaitlin Slice and Abby Horton, two.

Gosney led the Rockets in rebounding with six and blocks with two. Stoneking led the Rockets in assists with three. Anderson led the Rockets in steals with four.

Raeshonda Chand led Kewanee in scoring with 12.
