Kewanee outguns Tigers 91-85

The Kewanee boys basketball team gunned down the Sherrard Tigers 91-85 on Feb. 11. Kewanee jumped on top early in the contest with 23 points in the first quarter. Donovan Oliver scored 12 points to lead Kewanee while Jared Nimrick added seven. Sherrard's Ben Swanson helped the Tigers keep pace with eight points. Kewanee led 23-18 after one quarter.

Kewanee kept up the torrid scoring pace with 23 points in the second period. Oliver poured in 12 more points in the period for Kewanee while Kentrel Welcome added six.

Swanson helped the Tigers keep pace with 10 points but the Tigers trailed Kewanee 46-37 at the half.

The Tigers came back in the third period with 28 points of their own. Jake Kisner got on track with eight points for the Tigers while Swanson and Clayton Bjustrom chipped in with five apiece.

Kewanee's scoring attack didn't slow down much with Oliver pouring in eight more points.

Kewanee entered the final period clinging to a 66-65 point lead.

Lucas Boraas scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth period to pace the Tigers they couldn't stop Kewanee's offense. Nimrick answered for Kewanee with eight points of his own while Ryan Hicks added six and Oliver five to hold off Sherrard. Kewanee outscored Sherrard 25-20 in the final period.

Scoring for the game for Kewanee were: Donovan Oliver, 37; Jared Nimrick, 20; Kentrel Welcome, 18; Ryan Hicks and Dalton Nuding, six; John Moraski, four and Cody Goforth, three.

Scoring for Sherrard were: Ben Swanson, 27; Clayton Bjustrom, 15; Jake Kissner, 13; Blake Lampo, nine; Logan Larson and Dwight Swartz, four and Nathan Kelly, two.
