Tigers season ends in double overtime

The Sherrard Tigers girls basketball season came to an end Thursday night in Minonk. El Paso-Gridley beat Sherrard after two overtime sessions 49-47.

El Paso-Gridley's Mackenzie Hickey hit the game winning shot as time expired in the second overtime session.

It was a tough loss in so many ways for the Tigers who led 20-15 at the half. Libby Frye led the Tigers with 12 points while Riley Strandgard chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.

Rebekah Ehresman led El-Paso Gridley with 18 points, five rebounds and seven steals while Codee Schlipf added 14 points and six rebounds.

It is the fourth straight season the Tigers season ended in the sectional championship game. They finished the season with a 28-3 record.
