Jackson leads Golden Eagles to second place finish

Golden Eagle Austin Jackson led the Mercer County cross country team to a second place finish at the Farmington Cross Country Invite Tuesday, Aug. 26. The meet, originally scheduled for Aug. 25, had to be postponed a day for the heat. It was the first meet of the year for the Golden Eagles.

Jackson finished second overall in the field of 73 with a time of 16:55 just behind the leader Ethan Stanley of Mid-County who finished first with a time of 16:27.

Stanley and Mid County won the meet with 38 points followed by Mercer County's 73; Annawan-Wethersfield, 85; MidWest Central, 121; Knoxville, 122; Peoria Christian, 133 and Illini Bluffs, 145.

Placement and times for the other Mercer County runners were: Ethan Adolphson, 10, 18:26; Ethan Morrow, 11, 18:26.60; Chris Sabel, 24, 19:34.90; Gio Lee, 34, 19:54.60; Nick Hawk, 38, 20:17.90 and Grant Biddle, 43, 20:48.40.
