Golden Eagles knock off Princeville, 50-32

The Mercer County Golden Eagles girls basketball team dropped Princeville 50-32 on Jan. 15.

The Golden Eagles outscored Princeville in every quarter. Mercer County started out with a 10-4 advantage after one quarter and were ahead comfortably 21-9 at the half. The scoring picked up in the second half but Mercer County still outscored Princeville 29-23 after the break.

Scoring for Mercer County were: MacKenzie Baker, 20; Bailey Swanson, 14; Ellie Lower, six; Emily Lower, Emily Weeks and Josie Finch, two.

Brooke Gardner led Princeville in scoring with 12 points.

The Golden Eagles improved to 8-10 with the victory while Princeville fell to 3-14.

The Golden Eagles will face ROWVA Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. in an LTC Tourney game at Wethersfield.
