Tigers edge rival Rockets

The Sherrard Tigers girls basketball team came from behind to edge Rockridge 33-31 on Jan. 15.

The Rockets led 8-5 after the first quarter. Michaela Stoneking hit a three pointer as she and teammate Tayler Johnson accounted for all eight Rocket points in the period.

In the second period three pointers from Taylor Anderson, Madi Lape and Stoneking helped the Rockets increase their lead to 19-11 at halftime.

The second half belonged to the Tigers though as they outscored Rockridge 10-6 in the third quarter to cut the Rocket lead to 25-21 heading into the final period. The Tigers outscored Rockridge 12-6 in the final period for the victory.

Stoneking led all scorers with 11 points while Tayler Johnson chipped in with eight.

Chelsey Crippen scored 10 points to led the Tigers.
