Golden Eagles second at Orion Invite
The Mercer County Golden Eagles finished second at the Orion Invitational held Friday and Saturday at Orion High School. Dakota won the event finishing with 275.5 points while Mercer County placed second with 190 points.
Nine of Dakota's wrestlers won their weight class. Mercer County won two weight classes at 220 pounds, Chase Nelson and 285 pounds, Qunton Ball. Four Golden Eagle wrestlers placed second an to more placed third.

At 106 pounds Collin barker of Dakota pinned Trae Blaser of Mercer County at 3:38 in the championship match. Avery Dean of Knoxville beat Max Harmon of GCMSF 8-2 in the third place match. Christopher Alaniz of Oregon pinned Chris Bonnell of Erie PT in the fifth place match.
At 113 pounds Alec Henze of Dakota pinned Drake Stirn of Mercer County at 3:31 in the championship match. Kal Law2yer of Macomb pinned Alex Moyer of Riverdale in 2:10 in the third place match. Chris Cauthon of Knoxville scored a major victory over Hunter Hand of Kewanee in the fifth place match.
At 120 pounds Hunter Spengler of Sherrard pinned Dillon Swift of Dakota at 5:56 in the championship match. Stone Engle of Mercer County beat Dylan Carey of U High 3-1 in the third place match. Evan Jacobsen ofOrion beat Kolt Lawyer of Macomb 8-2 in the fifth place match.
At 126 pounds Printice Walls of Dakota pinned Bryce Haddix of Macomb in 45 seconds in the championship match. Trenton Murphy of Mercer County defeated Kerrick Cameron of Erie Pt 7-3 in the third place match. Damon Rohrig of Kewanee defeated Taylor Humphrey of Sherrard 4-3 in the fifth place match.
At 132 pounds Andrew Wenger of Dakota beat Mike Dierikx of Orion 2-0 in the championship match. Josh Bowling of Erie Pt defeated Wally Bloomer of Macomb 9-8 in the third place match. Dyllan Bonk of Camp Point pinned Ronnie Raymond of Sherrard in 2:50 in the fifth place match.
At 138 pounds Nate Olsen of Dakota pinned Alex Morley of Sherrard in 3:23 in the championship match. Grady Todd of Erie Pt beat Tavian Moninski of Orion 2-0 in the third place match. Ashton Klingaman scored a major victory, 12-4, over Sterling Mower of Alleman in the fifth place match.
At 145 pounds J.J. Wolfe of Dakota scored a major victory, 12-4, over Chance Teel of Sherrard in the championship match. Jared Cole of Erie Pt defeated Lane Williams of GCMSF 11-4 in the third place match. James Schnerre of Orion pinned Jeremy Bowen of Camp Point in the fifth place match at 5:34.
At 152 pounds Greg Gereg Krulas of Dakota beat Curtis Van Winkle of Mercer County 9-4 in the championship match. Dominic Marchetti of Oregon scored a tech fall victory over Josh Wheeler of Erie PT, 16-0 at 3:17. Jake Weigand of Knoxville pinned Colton Mixer of Camp Point at 5:45 in the fifth place match.
At 160 pounds Jared Packer of Dakota won a major decision, 9-0, over Mathan Miller of Sherrard, in the championship match. Aaron Carter of GCMSF defeated Nick Sinde of Orion 4-0 in the third place match. Garett Passmore of Erie PT defeated Steve Huffman of Macomb 17-10 in the fifth place match.
At 170 pounds Carver James of Dakota scored a tech fall victory, 15-0 at 4:29, over Duncan Terry of U High in the championship match. Dylan Binion of Erie Point pinned Jacob Orth of Alleman in 48 seconds in the third place match. Garrett Rude of Oregon beat Evan McClure of GCMSF 4-3 in the fifth place match.
At 182 pounds Jacob Franklin of GCMSF beat Matt Weeks of Mercer County 3-2 in the championship match. Payton Loete of Orion pinned Caleb Dorsal of Alleman in 3:49 in the third place match. Jack Breedlove of Kewanee scored a major victory, 10-2 over Isaac Goldner of Sherrard in the fifth place match.
At 195 pounds Austin Shoup of Erie PT pinned tristan Smith of GSMSF in 2:17 in the championship match. Matthew Stevens of Oregon pinned Zane Viernow of Sherrard in 3:03 in the third place match. Maverick McPeek of Dakota pined Shabie Dudley of Mercer County at 5:36 in the fifth place match.
At 220 pounds Chase Nelson of Mercer County beat Collin Schmidt of Rockridge 3-1 in the championship match. Noah Bridgewater of Orion pinned Levi Davis of GCMSF in 3:22 in the third place match. Noah Eads of Erie PT pinned David Labash of Oregon in 3:41 in the fifth place match.
At 285 pounds Quinton Ball of Mercer County beat Matthew Crandall of Oregon 2-1 i n the championship match. Justin Moody of Rockridge pined Packard Otto of U High in 21 seconds in the third place match. Kyler Yodts of Alleman pinned Marshall Stewar Hall of Macomb in 1:35 in the fifth place match.
