Mercer County (0-1) to face Illini West (1-0)

Last Week: Mercer County lost 30-20 to Farmington, Illini West beat United 38-24

Both teams were in close games in the fourth quarter in Week 1 but closed out crunch time with differing results. Mercer County got within one score of Farmington late in the contest but gave up a late touchdown that put the game out of reach for the Golden Eagles. Illini West also played a back and forth affair with United but the Chargers were able to put together enough big plays to earn the win.

What to watch in Week 2: Mercer County's offense clicked early but couldn't keep that rhythm into the back half of the game. The Golden Eagles are going to want to change that pattern against an Illini West team that gave up over 200 yards rushing to United. The biggest concern for Mercer County will be the Chargers' offensive versatility. Illini West ran for over 250 yards and finished with nearly 200 yards passing. Stopping running back Connor Artman will be top priority for the Golden Eagles. Artman scored all six of Illini West's touchdowns in Week 1 and can catch the ball well out of the backfield.
