Bringing you up to date on golf scores, the Mercer County Girls Golf team was at 13-1 as of September 22, 2020. Coverage of meets playing the front 9 at Hawthorn showed MC with their one loss on Sept. 16 to Rockridge with team scores of 199 and 197. Top individual score for the meet was MC senior, Callie Siering with 46. Rockridge’s Hannah Graves followed with 48 and Amelia Rursch had 49. On Sept.18, MC took the win against West Central with team scores of 190 and 216. There was a tie for first with Mercer County’s Callie Siering and West Central’s Elaina Fisher with 44. On September 21, MC scored 216 for the team against Rock Island, who didn’t have a full team. September 22 was a triangular where MC rolled a great win against Rockridge and Farmington. MC captured a school record with 172. Top 3 scores were held by MC. Par for the course on the front nine is 36. Coming real close to that was Mia Hillyer with 38. Second place with 43 was Callie Siering and scoring 44 was Emma Saltzman. Way to go girls!

September 22 was also senior recognition for the MC golf teams. MC High School Principal, Stacey Day, announced the seniors as they lined up with their parents on the practice green at Hawthorn Ridge Golf Course. Future plans for the diverse group of seniors were read. Plans included everything from continued family farming, veterinarian, nursing, and marketing. Several are planning to enter Air Force Academy, Army, and National Guard. With the final days of play at their home course, Hawthorn Ridge…Best of luck to all those seniors.
