Streaks third at WB6 meet

GALESBURG — Galesburg High School freshman Cora Johnson ended up in a tie with three others for fourth place in the Western Big 6 Conference meet Monday at Lake Bracken Country Club.

Johnson carded an 84 and received All-WB6 honors. The Silver Streaks finished in third place as a team (380). Galesburg junior Gracey Miyler ended up with a 93 on her scorecard, placed 10th and was an honorable mention selection to the all-league team. Ashley Yoder (97), Abby Phillips (106), and Finley Kane (143) also represented the Streaks on the links. 

Quincy’s Sophia Gold nabbed medalist honors after firing a 73. The Blue Devils won the meet with a 310, and Geneseo took second place with a 375. Moline finished in fourth place with a 387 and was followed by Sterling (446), Rock Island (448), and Alleman (460). 


Galva falls to Henry-Senachwine 

GALVA — The Galva High School volleyball team was swept by Henry-Senachwine in straight sets 25-12, 15-16 on Monday night. 

Hope Self had 18 assists, 10 points and four aces for the Wildcats (11-6) in the loss. Gabby Garcia had nine digs. Nateita Kessling led Galva in kills with eight, and she had a block.
