Keithsburg native on Central College (Iowa) wrestling team

Preston Adams, sr., Keithsburg, IL, 141 pounds, Mercer County HS is a member of the Central College wrestling team. Awards/honors: One varsity letter, 2016-17 stats: 6-9 record, 5 decisions.

Head coach Eric Van Kley returns 26 letterwinners and six starters from last year’s 10-2 squad. An All-American at 125 pounds the last two seasons, C.J. Pestano (Torrance, Calif.) is one of three returning national qualifiers. Central has sent wrestlers to the national meet seven straight years. As a team, the Dutch finished the season third in the Iowa Conference, it’s the program’s best finish the last 20 years.

Central opens the dual season at Coe on November 16. The schedule also includes tournaments in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Highlighting the schedule is the Central College Under Armour Invitational, which will take place on January 6 in H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse.
