Scots' Widdop earns weekly league honor

A big weekend for Monmouth College's Chelsey Widdop (Reynolds/Rockridge) has earned the volleyball standout the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honor.

Widdop powered the Scots to a 3-1 record at last weekend's Illinois Wesleyan Barker Classic. The senior outside hitter collected double-digit kills in all four matches, opening with 11 winners in a 3-0 win over Eureka. She drilled 12 more kills when the Scots swept Font bonne 3-0. Widdop came back Saturday with a 19 kill, 19 dig effort in a 3-1 loss to IWU, the Scots' only loss on the weekend. She wrapped up the tournament by hitting .483 with 16 kills and 11 digs against Lincoln Christian.

For the week, Wid dop averaged over four kills per set with 58 total kills for a .336 percentage. She also added 43 digs, averaging over three per set.

An accounting and business major, Widdop is the daughter of James and Constance Widdop.
