Katie Bertelsen fanned 11 and gave up one hit in a 10-0 Lincoln Trail Conference win for United over Mercer County April 20.

United plated four runs in the fifth to take an 8-0 lead and added two in the sixth to end the game early. Kelsey Crain drove in three runs and Kaitlynn Winkler had two RBIs to lead the Red Storm offense.

Bertelsen is expected to become only the 22nd softball pitcher in Illinois history to top 1,000 career strikeouts in her next start. The Southern Illinois University recruit is on pace to rewrite the all-time IHSA strikeout record currently held by Kelcie Matesa of Gillispie.
