Rockets knock off IVC with Goodwin walk-off

Gillian Goodwin’s two-run home run in the seventh inning propelled the Rockridge Rockets to a 9-7 victory April 21.

Jennifer Krueger led off the first inning with a double and scored on a single by Hailey Deem as Rockridge took a 1-0 lead.

IVC bounced back in the top of the second inning to tie the score at 1-1.

In the bottom of the second the Rockets scored three runs to take a 4-1 lead. Goodwin was hit by a pitch to start the innng. Kaylee Moseley reached base on an error. Then, with two outs, Krueger hit a three run home run.

IVC answered back in the top of the third inning with two runs on no hits to cut the Rockets lead to 4-3.

IVC took a 7-4 lead in the top of the fourth inning as the first five IVC hitters reached base.

Rockridge rebounded in the bottom of the fifth inning. Hailey Deem led off the inning with a double and Caitlin Lingle followed with a double. Emily Medinger drove both in with a double to cut the IVC lead to 7-6.

Rockridge knotted the score in the bottom of the sixth inning. Nikki Dixon and Jennifer Krueger led off the sixth inning with a pair of singles. Dixon scored  on a sacrifice by Deem.

Krueger drove in three runs to lead the team. She also had a home run and a double. Deem, Medinger and Goodwin all drove in two runs as well.
