Sherrard girls win seventh straight conference title

The Sherrard High School girls track and field team won its seventh straight Olympic Conference title May 7 in Macomb. Sherrard scored 193 points on the meet. Other schools scores were: Rockridge, 193; Rockridge, 106; Monmouth-Roseville, 103; Macomb, 72; Orion, 47 and Farmington, 33.

The Tigers were again paced by outstanding performances from Lacey Hainline and Sarah Boraas.

Boraas won the 200 meter dash, 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles while Hainline won the 100 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. Sherrard also won the 4 x 400 meter relay as well as the 4 x 200 meter relay and the 4 x 100 meter relay.

Also taking home first place finishes for the Tigers were Maggie McCormick in the shot put; Kelsy Thompson in the high jump; Jaclyn Scavuzzo in the pole vault and Crystal Ponce in the 3200 meter run.

Codee Pedersen scored the only first place finish for Rockridge in the 1600 meter run. Pedersen also placed second in the 3200 meter run. The Rockets scored 14 points in the shot put with second and third place finishes from Bre Lawless and Erika Price. Darcee Parchert placed second in the triple jump.
