Sherrard's Lacey Hainline sets up at the beginning of the 400 meter dash.

Over the past few years the Sherrard High School girls track and field team has made a name for itself at the state level placing in the top 10 the past four years with a state championship in the 2006-07 year.

This year should be no different.

The Tigers have a number of state qualifiers this season, many with a chance to place.

The Tigers 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 meter relay teams recorded the fastest times in the state last week at the Rockridge Sectional. They will be favorites to fare well at the state track meet May 21 and 22 in Charleston.

Tiger Sarah Boraas ran the third fastest time in the state in the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles.

Lacey Hainline is also poised for a good run at stat. She has the third fastest finish in the 200 meter dash; fourth fastest finish in the 400 meter dash and the seventh fastest finish in the 100 meter dash.

Sherrard pole vaulter Allie Munday also has a chance to emerge from a crowded group. She and several other hit 9-9 at the sectional level, all tied for third highest.
