Heiar and Dahlstrom qualify for finals

Several area individuals participated in the IHSA Class 1A Boys Track and Field meet in Charleston May 27.

Sherrard's Mitch Heiar and Ben Dahlstrom each qualified for the finals after a day of preliminaries as did Scott Duncan of United.

Sherrard's Mitch Heiar placed second in his preliminary heat in the 800 meter run and advanced to the finals with a time of 1:58.95.

United's Scott Duncan and Sherrard's Ben Dahlstrom cleared 6-03 in the preliminaries of the high jump to win their flight and advanced to the finals.

Sherrard' s Patrick Colbrese jumped 6-0 in the long jump in the preliminaries but failed to make the finals.

Alex Lavens of Sherrard jumped of 39-08 in the triple jump but failed to qualify for the finals.

Sherrard's 4 x 800 meter relay team (John Fisher, Will Sindelar, Dannie Pettie and Mitch Heiar) placed eighth in its heat, 8:25.75, but did not qualify for the finals.

Mercer County's 4 x 100 meter relay team (Cale Muske, Tanner Benson, Michael McClellan and C.J. DeSpain) placed eighth in its heat and did not qualify for the finals, 45.23.

Mercer County's Bryce Speaker placed fifth in the preliminaries of the 110 meter hurdles, 16.18 but did not qualify for the finals.
