Blaser wins player of the week award
Darin Blaser and Nick Snyder earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week Awards for their performances in UW-Platteville's 21-17 win over Dubuque Saturday, Sept. 11.
Blaser, a junior receiver from Aledo earned the Offensive Player of the Week Award, while Snyder, a sophomore linebacker from Mt. Morris (Oregon High School), was the Defensive Player of the Week.
Blaser caught 16 passes (one shy of the school record) for 195 yards and the game-winning touchdown in the Pioneers' victory. On the final drive, Blaser caught passes of 41, 5 and 17, with the latter going for a touchdown with 1:12 remaining.
For the second consecutive week, Snyder led the Pioneers in tackles, as he made eight solo stops and also sealed the contest with an interception with 20 seconds remaining at the Pioneer 30. He and his older brother Brian combined for 15 tackles.
