Rockridge knock off Ridgewood in overtime, 53-46
The Rockridge Rockets girls basketball team defeated Ridgewood 53-46 in overtime on Nov. 29.
The Rockets jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter. Nikki Dixon hit a three pointer and had five points in the period for the Rockets. Bre Lawless added four points.
Ridgewood cut into the Rocket lead in the second period but trailed 22-17 at the half. Caitlin McVay helped the Rockets keep pace in the second period with 10 points.
In the third period Ridgewood cut the Rockridge lead to five points by outscoring them 12-10. McVay added another four points to her total in the period.
Ridgewood fought to tie the score in the fourth period to force overtime. Emily Watkins had four points in the period to lead the Rockets.
The final period was all Rockridge though as they outscored Ridgewood 14-7. Kaylee Moseley hit six of her eight free throw attempts in the period and Watkins added another four points from the line. As a team Rockridge hit 12-16 from the free throw line in the overtime period to put the game away.
Scoring for Rockridge were: McVay, 18; Watkins, 13; Nikki Dixon, eight; Moseley and Lawless, six and Allyson Martens, two.
