Rock Island thumps Sherrard, 49-37

The Rock Island girls basketball team defeated Sherrard 49-37 on Jan. 15.

Rock Island jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first quarter and led 25-19 at the half. Rock Island held Sherrard to three points in the third quarter and led 35-22 heading into the final period. Sherrard came back in the final period to outscore Rock Island 15-14 but it wasn't enough to make the difference.

Scoring for Sherrard were: Kayla Tatge, 10; Karlee Rumler, eight; Amanda Hamerlinck and Tarran Shaffer, four Aimee Iverson, three.
