28th Annual “Bob Mitton” Orion Invitational Wrestling Tournament is Jan. 21 and 22
The 28th Annual “Bob Mitton” Orion Invitational Wrestling Tournament will be held at the Orion High School Jan. 21 and 22,
The tourney features four teams ranked in the top 15 in the state in Class A. There are 11 individuals ranked in the top four at their weights including four top-ranked wrestlers. At 130 pounds the state’s first (Orion’s Thorian Twyner), second (Mercer County’s Austin Skiles) and fourth (Dakota’s Brandon Lizer) ranked wrestlers will be there.
The event will start at Friday at 6 p.m. The first and second rounds plus one round of wrestle-backs will take place that night.
On Saturday there is a 9:15 a.m. start time. There will be one round of wrestle-backs, semi-finals, semi-final wrestle-backs and the finals (approximately 4 p.m.).
Teams invited to the tournament are: Ashton Franklin Center, Camp Point Central, Dakota, Erie/Prophetstown, Gibson City Melvin Sibley Fischer, Kewanee, Knoxville, Macomb, Mercer County, Normal U-High, Oregon, Orion, Peoria Hts., Polo, Riverdale, Rockridge and Sherrard.
