Rockets, Golden Eagles on top at Golden Eagle Invite

The Mercer County Golden Eagles and Rockridge Rockets finished on top of the Golden Eagle Invite held April 27 at Sherrard High School.

Both schools finished with 95 points with Monmouth-Roseville finishing a close third place with 89.50 points. Scores of the other schools were: West Central, 67.50; Sherrard, 65; Galva, 44; ROWVA, 26; Cambridge, 22; United, 16 and Orion, seven.

Mercer County's Payton Holmes won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.00 and the 300 meter hurdles, 43.60. Teammate Sam Whan won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:04.80.

The Golden Eagles 4 x 100 meter relay team of Cale Muske, Tanner Benson, Andrew Christie and Cameron Muske also placed first with a time of 45.00. The 4 x 200 meter relay team, same members, also placed first, 1:36.10.

The Rockets 4 x 800 meter relay team (Connor Frakes, Lucas Gosney, T.J. Henry and Nyle Stevens) won first place, 8:42.10. Stevens also won first place in the 400 meter dash, 53.60.
